South Central Community Services’
18th Annual “Puttin’on the Hits’ fundraiser
is always loads of fun. And this year’s event was
no exception. |
On March 14, 2003, SCCS presented a
merriment night of tasty food, lively music and good times
shared for more than 700 guests at the Sabre Room in south
suburban Hickory Hills. |
Staff members, board of directors,
volunteers and friends of SCCS gave stellar pantomime performances
to the popular music of such artists as Keith Sweat, Phyllis
Hyman, Whitney Houston, Deborah Cox, Tina Turner and Teddy
Pendergrass. |

South Central Community Services board members Angela Harkless,
Publisher, Cachet Magazine; Earl Moore, Chairman, Board of
Directors and Felicia Y. Blassingame, Ed.D., President/CEO.
|
Comedic emcee, Tony Sculfield of WGCI-FM
served as Masters of Ceremonies and kept the audience in stitches
with hilarious jokes and anecdotes. |

A very talented group of high school
students, the Northwest Indiana Dance Ensemble opened the
show with a modern dance number to the “Puttin’
on the Ritz” song. |
Members of the audience showed their
approval and enthusiasm for the performers by giving them
dollars bills during their performances. The money collected
on stage are donations to SCCS. |
Another highlight
of the evening was the raffling of two round-trip tickets
on Air Jamaica. Many guests remarked that this year’s
POTH was the best ever. |
