C. F. Stradford Awards

Many of Chicago’s legal elite gathered on February 19, 2003 at the Cultural Center for the 13th Annual C.F. Stradford Awards
Ceremony to pay tribute to two of the most accomplished barristers in Chicago.
Each year the State’s Attorney Office recognize distinguished attorneys within the African American community with the Stradford Awards.

Cheryl Williams, State Farm Insurance; scholarship recipients Christopher Compton and Veronica Womack; Honoree, Atty. James D. Montgomery; Cook County State’s Attorney Richard A. Devine; Honoree, Judge Blanche Manning and Laurel Stratford, family historian & granddaughter
The award also provides high school students with scholarships and paid internships at the State’s Attorney Office.
The award is named for a praised pioneer in the legal profession, Cornelius Francis Stradford. Stradford co-founded the Cook County Bar Association and the National Bar Association.
